“You are having a laugh, special things for going for a run”

“oh yes”

“is it possible to have something special when breathing so hard and trying to keep going?”

“Absolutely — let me share”

For some theres nothing like sitting down with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine to allow the creative juices to flow.

For me there is nothing better than getting outside and allowing the wind to go through my hair and be in solitude away from demanding emails and messages.

Here is what I gain:

  1. Clear thinking

With the many distractions in the ‘office’ by person or technology getting outdoors and moving quickly you dont have the opportunity to connect. Its at this point you can allow your subconscious mind to ‘decompress’ and allow the ideas to flow or as Nancy Kline would say give you “time to think”.

2. Planning for the day

We can all be eager to get going and in doing so miss the priorities and do what hits us first rather than be guided by our own goals. With running you have the space to create the list / approach and or priorities and at the same time get fitter.

3. Fitness

The majority of clients and people I talk to all want to get fit. What a better way to combine work and fitness together. Some people run or walk while having meetings. For me there is nothing more satisfying than doing a little concurrent activity.

4. Fresh air

It is well known that by getting outside you get more oxygen to the brain and in so doing allows it to be more creative. I am guessing the oxygen allows you to be are more effective. So rather than assuming you will be more affective or others think you are more affective sat at a desk, use the power of nature to help you to peak performance.

5. Building a positive belief pattern

The great natural hormones that are released when you run gives you a great feeling. This can also allow you to bring in positive thoughts and create opportunities in the mind that you can action when you are back ‘in the office’.

Today was no exception

2 new proposals written in my mind

1 plan of action for the week.

Go on have a go and see how much more productive you are.

I’d love to hear your stories and ‘working outside’ opportunities you use.
