What are the 2 most popular desirable actions for leaders

Many of my coaching and consulting clients are all wanting to know ‘which way is up’ in a complex world of too much. In many cases there are systems, processes and ‘models’ that they are required to follow that only adds to the burden.

From what I see, hear and feel getting order and getting the basics right have the greatest impact.

With all this going on the last thing people want to be given extra load of a book to read, a course to go on or a session to consume. Generally humans like to have the autonomy to guide themselves.

To support this I would like to share a few questions that you as leaders can use yourself and or with your teams to support you getting started and reduce the feeling of being over whelmed.

  1. The need for getting order

What is all the stuff that I have to do?

What criteria are you using to prioritise what you have to do?

How will I go about it?

What will keep me on track?

2. The value in getting the basics right

What are the basics that will make the difference? (What is the difference that will make a difference?

What are the measures of success?

When I have the basics sorted what will I have?

e.g. How to run an effective meeting, How to give a great presentation? What is our purpose? What are our strengths? What is my role to support success? What is stopping me make the business decisions I need to?

My message is as simple as the ideas I have shared. Get back to the basics and do them well and allow yourself the freedom of getting some order in your life. We are all leaders of something.

I love rolling my sleeves up and getting under the skin of a significant challenge working with high energy, new and established teams (mostly entrepreneurs, tech and small businesses) to be productive, high performing and prosperous (healthy and happy).
