10 Strategies to get you on track

Are you scared to dream big?

Do you feel its selfish to dream?

When you dream do you feel guilty that as others are worse off than you that you shouldnt dream?

Do you have limiting thoughts that mean its not worth dreaming as it wont happen?

Are you scared of failing to reach your goal so wont bother in the first place?

Is it the never the right time as you are to young, old, have bills to pay or want to get your ducks in line first?

Heh you are not alone.

Talking with and listen to people it feels that many people get stuck at the starting blocks. Well in fact prior to getting to the start.

So what is this all about?

Mindset

We all know the research and psychology that says when we have a clear goal / vision / ‘why’ it will allow you to have the focus you need throughout your journey and give you the bounce to get you up in the morning. The very fact that you have a why gives you a why.

As Alan (Founder and Director) of the Popup Business School says:

“If you have a large enough ‘why’ then any ‘how’ is surmountable.”

So if you dont have a dream how can you have something to give you your ultimate guide when you are making decisions, sharing your passion and be successful.

Here are a few strategies to get you on track and to the start…

Strategies to build your dream

  1. Look at things from a different angle — Rather than think you are greedy or selfish think about what value you can give to others when you are earning more, the time you can have with your family and the added bonus to your health.
  2. Dont over think it — Use what comes into your head straight away. If you hang around to long you will make excuses.
  3. Dont get put off my the people around you — People have different values and beliefs and its great we are all different. However negative thoughts can dampen your energy.
  4. Go somewhere which is different. Perhaps you can find somewhere that is new, go for a walk or even find somewhere that might fit your dream.
  5. Recognise what makes you happy and be authentic to yourself. We all see in the media different approaches to life and even the strongest critic can get drawn in. Clear you mind of that and allow yourself to drive your desires and not be led by others.
  6. Go back to basics and use pen and paper. There is something about being tactile withe instruments that allow us to better connect with our thoughts.
  7. Find a time in your diary. Allocate a time when you are going to do a ‘dream sheet’ and write it in and make sure nothing can get in its way.
  8. Get started. Ask yourself this question. When you have succeeded, where will you be, what will you be doing and what will you have see, hear and feel?
  9. Put it to one side and come back to it the following day. Is there anything to add? if so add it.
  10. When happy STOP and reflect. I’d recommend closing your eyes. With your dream in your mind — what do you see, feel, hear and smell. This might sound a little fuddy duddy but its been proved that it can work.

As they say

“ this is your time and you only have one life, go make the most of it because only YOU can do that”

Excuses, comparisons with others wont achieve your dreams and anyway its up to them what they want. You are different so stay on task and take little steps in the direction for your dreams and picture of success.
